International Conference on Strategic Intelligence and Island Development, Corsica, 2022

Hosted by Pascal Paoli University of Corsica Island, France, the conference gathered experts on strategic development of islands, including Henri Dou, Pierre Fournie, Philippe Clerc, Allain Juillet, Marcela Ganea. One particular interest was given to the Belt and Road Initiative and the projects China has implemented on islands around the world. Marcela Ganea: “At the end of 2021, compared to 2019, China’s engagement in BRI diminished with 48%.Global FDI increased with 77% in 2021 while BRI FDI declined with 41%. Largest sources of FDI in 2021 were: the USA = 230.5 billion USD, Japan = 88.5 billion USD, Germany = 63.3 billion USD, China = 55.7 billion USD, the Netherlands = 44.2 billion USD”
