6th International High-Level Forum on Overseas Chinese Studies in Wuhan

Organized by Wuhan University in November 2025, the forum on the topic “The Anti-poverty Path with Chinese Characteristics” emphasized details about how a country took more than 800 million people out of poverty in 30 years, this means 75% of the global poverty reduction since 1981, unique achievement in the history of humanity. Its expertise  and philosophy: 1) all countries are a community with shared destiny, and 2) connectivity in infrastructure, including energy facilities, knowledge and people-to people-exchanges inspire to pursue prosperity through diligent work, entrepreneurship and businesses, and moral values, respect for traditions, culture and patrimonial assets China knows common prosperity takes time and patience, uniform progress is not possible because of local circumstances and resources, and encourages the young generation to study, acquire skills and competences for the future, to be enterprising  because this is how they‘ll create better lives for themselves. Global integration and connectivity is the essence of The Belt and Road Initiative – to take people out of poverty, through provision of infrastructure, international relations, technology, education. Common prosperity is material but also cultural and ethical. The 3,000 + projects implemented by China around the world under the BRI reveal new potential everywhere, open people’s eyes to look for a better future, prove that innovation is not so difficult when human brains get together and work hard under good management for a shared goal, and empower people to serve as game-changers.  Connectivity is the key for development and solution to poverty
